Making a statement, in my own way.
I have made a decision that many of my readers will find difficult to comprehend. I want to explain the decisions first, followed by my rationale for such decision.
I have a novel that is available on virtually hundreds of household name websites:
Amazon
Barnes and Noble
Forbes Book Club
Powells
etc.
As of this morning, I sent an official request to be removed from ALL online outlets.
It may take several weeks to make it happen, but eventually...my book will no longer be offered at these places of business.
The official distribution network will be www.lulu.com/ejwcreations
Why?
For years the publishing industry has had a quiet revolution on the belly of the big snake of corporate book publishing. That revolution is self-publishing.
With Lulu.com, I got my start as a published author. Some will say anyone can self-publish a book....and they are right. Freedom of speech in its purest form? Sign me up. Let it be known that self-publishing a book and selling copies are two different things.
I have been fortunate with my title and my sales have been consistent. I believe this can be looked at two ways. Either A) Talent, or B) Marketing. Either way, it still works for me. I think, firmly, that everyone should have the ability. I do not think everyone has the drive, or the determination...or the ego.
My decision comes down to to one thing. I like to think of myself as different... my writing, my process, my thoughts. I like my individuality. Something corporate greedy America doesn't enjoy.
More to come as the process finalizes.
Good for me.

Is this just fear and the desire NOT to read negative reviews? I hope you're not letting that get to you!
People will make up their own mind.
People will either love it or hate it.
Its a calculated gamble. If you are looking for a romantic laugh riot, buy something else. If you are looking for Longfellow style sentence structure, look somewhere else.
If you are looking for a passionate author who poured his entire fucking heart and soul into a novel...this is the book for you.
I never made claims that it wont be without error...those who love my book saw that it was a journal of a sick man. Edgar Somerset's journal wouldn't be written in the best english. It wouldn't have the best punctuaion. It would be his heart on a sleeve.
To that end, I succeeded.

Distribution is everything, negative reviews or not you are shooting yourself in the foot by cutting off your distribution channels. Unless they know you or are specifically looking for this book no one will ever know your book exists if you remove it from mainstream distribution channels.
This decision seems completely counter-intuitive and most certainly not in your best interests as an author.
Such a decision does make it seem like you are letting the negative reviews get to you.
One of the people I work with has just wrote a book that he is planning to self-publish. I showed him your book on Amazon and BN and he was very excited about it, negative reviews and all. He said that as an author he would welcome the negative reviews because any publicity, good or bad, is good publicity. Perhaps that's how you should look at it.
I have sold more books through LULU.com than I have through any of the internet sites...combined.
Just because you place your novel into a distribution channel, doesn't mean people will find it any easier than if I use lulu.com.
Plus, they take about 1/2 the royalties. If we are being honest.
So it comes down to control...and money. Wow. shocking.
I don't care about negative reviews. I don't.
AS LONG AS THEY HAVE READ THE FUCKING BOOK.
