Creative.....or commercial

How typical this problem is, I don't know. I am constantly faced with the following:

OK, I have a kick ass story...but it will never be picked up by a traditional publisher, but I have several very commercial fiction ideas sitting in my PC.

So which do I spend my time on?

And as the battle inside that debate continues...my keyboard collects dust.
