Memorial Day 2005

Danica Patrick Becomes First Woman to Lead the Indy 500.

Best Finish by a woman, best start by a woman. It was her race.

I hope your Memorial Day Weekend was memorable. Mine was.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My writing is on a short hiatus.
I am getting ready to re-visit an old friend.
It will be my toughest journey.
A deep dark look at me.
From a distance.
It will be another blurring of fiction and reality.
It will catch you up on the past of someone you already know.
I am filled with fear and anticipation, yet excitement.
Be patient.
Finally, things are looking up for my newest novel.
Thoughts are in place.
I am almost ready to think, create, and tell the world.

My lifes mission.

indy 500

This weekend is the 89th running of the INDY 500.

I have seen each one since 1989 with my father. It is one of the greatest traditions in my family, and some of my best memories with my father have occurred on race day. And finally, it is here.

Enjoy your weekend, and may you celebrate your traditions in good health, and with safety.

daily is tough...

SO, I have learned that to blog each day takes a lot of work. A dedication, a committment, that is hard to find. So, I will continue to come here as often as possible and tell you what is going on.

Right now, at this moment, I am not writing. I need to take some time and narrow my scope. I have all of these ideas of novels running through my head, a lot of them started and I am just not sure which way to go here. I think they are all my best work yet, so it isn't a lack of creation that is causing my delay, it is a lack of direction.

Here is a glimpse of where the works are:

Carousel- has been renamed Anachronism. It is a perfect title for it. About 60% done, reworking constantly, but I am pleased with its progress and its story. I think you will be too.

antiTHEsis- is a soul searching journey telling the life of a young pastor. To stay true to his beliefs he has always done things the same way. He goes the same way to work, he wears the same suits on the different days of the week. Everyone calls him superstitious. When he is forced to take a different route to work....could everything change?

The city slept- The work I am most excited about. It involves a business trip with some young urban professionals into the city I love so much. New York City is the backdrop for this story of 5 men who come from different backgrounds and regions yet find some common bonds...and some not so common. It is a much better story than this reads, but I dont want to give away to much information.

a life in the day- this is a concept work. I am not sure what length it will turn out to be, but it will be extremely difficult to do. I love stream writing, taking thoughts from my brain and writing them down...this will be the thoughts as they happen taken straight from my mind. Not sure if it will work, but creation and experimentation go along very well...

Ok, i am done for now...i have made up for some lost time, and even given you a peak into more.

And just like that...

No anger.

I was right, yesterday was fine, but for some reason I remembered some things in my life, and it got to me. If you have read And The World Said Nothing, you know what I am talking about..and if you havent? Read it.

Its a beautiful May day in Cincinnati, and this morning on my way downtown to my office, I was looking at things. Differently than before. Everywhere you look, everything you hear, everything you smell, has a memory attached to it. It may be subliminal, or it may hit you in the face. But challenge yourself to the following:

Whatever you are doing throughout the day, look around and take it in. Then reflect on it....and I know you will have a memory, either good or bad to tie it to.

After all, what we do during our lives creates a memory, and if we don't relive the memories, the pain, the happiness we have felt...then it was wasted. As if it never happened.

Personal growth for the future begins with knowledge of your past.

Do something fun today: Go outside: Fly a kite: Tell your wife, or girlfriend, or partner, or children, or mother, or father that you love them: In fact tell all of them that...

It is the weekend. Enjoy your life...you get one chance at it.

Have you ever been very very very angry

and not really known why?

Well, thats my life right now. This very minute...it wasnt 30 minutes ago, and it may not be 30 minutes from now. But right now at 953am I am hot. I wish I had more to say, but it would be nothing productive. I like journals.

WITH_TEETH. The day after...

Good day to you all.

The new NIN album is simply outstanding. I am amazed by his constant growth as an artist. This album is a very much grown up Nine Inch Nails. The music is a far cry from their 1989 (can you believe it's been 16 years?) release, Pretty Hate Machine. The angst is still there, the power is still there, the industrial sound is almost gone. This is a pretty pure rock album. There are some great tunes here, please check it out. This may, in my opinion be his best work yet. I own every album ever released and have seen the band six times in concert. I am a pretty good judge of his music, and probably his biggest critic. Once again Trent, you didn't disappoint.

WITH_TEETH kicks serious ass. Turn it up, listen to it a few times..and it will seep into you.

More to come...
