the thing i have always needed to know...

As my family and I ate at a Chinese restaurant here in Cincinnati I grew just a bit nervous. The fortune cookie was presented at my table and I dreamed of what could be written inside.

A motivational morsel for me to digest perhaps? Or maybe an idea that could spark a NY Times bestseller.

I opened it with great anticipation...and therein was written what I always needed to know:

"You like Chinese food."

perhaps one step closer

Bret Roberts. Look him up on imdb.com. He is currently reading, ATWSN. Which if you are new to my world is anD thE world sAid noTHing. My first novel. Two months ago, a call came down from the heavens...or the satellites that I wasn't expecting. It was on that phone call when I felt the tide begin to turn with the release of this novel. In that conversation, we discussed ATWSN becoming a movie. I had thought of it before.

The voice on the other side of the phone told me to get a copy to Bret and his friend Chris Fisher. They had worked together on several movies.

Today, I received a call from Bret Roberts. He has the book. He is reading it, and claims to be enjoying it. He has played quite a few roles like Edgar before...well in the sense that he plays people who kill people. Bret would be a great Edgar. More to come here....could be the start of something big.

Or the start of yet another disappointment.

I am tired of spinning these wheels...it is certainly time to move on to finishing the next novel.

Commercial success can be found in the rest of my novels that are being worked on...yet the one that no one is brave enough to touch was the one I NEEDED TO WRITE FIRST.

More after my talks with Bret and co.

a sign of the apocolypse

Yesterday on my commute out of the city after work I had a horrific experience.

In the States there is a fad right now to have a magnetic bow on your vehicle. These are usually yellow to support the troops or red, white, and blue to show patriotism.

Yesterday, I saw a bow on the back of an SUV that I hadn't seen before. It caught my attn because it was a dark green. I pulled closer to the car in front of me to read it.

I love Irish dancing

ej wasson reading list

So. Are there books besides mine that I am interested in?

Yes. Below is the current arsenal that I am reading from:

Haunted, Chuck Pahlunick

102 Minutes, don't remember the authors name but it is a horrifying account of the fight for survival inside the twin towers of the World Trade Center in NYC.

Stephen King: on writing, by Stephen King

Glamorama, Bret Easton Ellis

These are my current reads. Here are some of the books that inspired me to think, create, tell the world:

These three had the biggest impact on my goals as an author. Yes, it is a varied assortment...what else would you expect.

American Psycho
The Grapes of wrath
Of mice and men

good short weekend

Well all, I am slacking. I have made a huge decision...for now anyway. I have been working on a prequel for anD thE world sAid noTHing. I do want to show the world how Edgar got the where you first meet him. In some previous posts I gave hints at this, but now is not the time to continue the saga of Edgar. But, it will happen someday.

With that decision.....well...decided, I am moving on to my more commercially accepted works. I am beginning the process of creating a new idea. I have a title:

32
An ej wasson novel.

Details to come.

Also, Anachronism will begin to take shape to be finished by the end of 2005. I would like to have it to press by December.

So, my mind can now focus on the fresh ideas I have, instead of re-living the pain Edgar brought to me and those who met him.

mass transit

Ahhhh, the joys of mass transit. Hurry up anf wait. But the wait is over and we are now moving. 2.25 each way. From suburbia to the city. Gone is the stress of sitting in traffic..weaving in and out of traffic...but also gone is HOWARD STERN!!! What was I thinking??? No radio, no iPod...just my blackberry to keep me company. Though it does give me time to tell you some things:

My sister-in-law knows a woman who won an honorable mention at the Cannes film festival a few years back. She has told her about the novel, and the ideas we have for making that happen. She wrote back to her last night and my sister-in-law is going to get us in touch. Good Stuff there...

My Malaysian friend is excited to receive her street team stuff, but I have never shipped anything overseas...so I have to figure that out today.

If only I could replace my current income with royalties, or options, I would have more time to devote to my dream job. In time.

Talk soon, and thanks for spreading the word.

Four day work weeks suck for productivity but rock for the psyche. Three to go.

Still waiting to see the novel on amazon. Updates to come.

Also, a special welcome to "jelonbelon", the newest member of the ej wasson street team. She will soon be receiving her promotional materials soon, and will be handing them out in malaysia and indonesia.

The presence is growing...

We are good people.

I would like to get this Country a nice birthday present...a free thinking, open minded, compassionate leader.

boats and sunshine. green flags and blue skies

What a weekend lined up we have in store. To celebrate my birthday which was the 1st, I have three days of activities planned. No I am not that important, but I like to think my birthday deserves a three day party...all ended with the entire united states setting off millions of firecrackers. Hey, maybe I am that important?

Today hours of boating and drinking on a lake in cincinnati.

Tomorrow, F1 race in the morning, followed by lunch with my mom to celebrate my birthday, followed by an IndyCar race.

Followed by some more family coming over to cook out and swim...and drink.

Then monday another party with my dads side for my birthday.

Besides all of that....nothing going on.

Enjoy your Holiday weekend. If your in the UK...you can celebrate the fact that George W. Bush is NOT your leader.
